Exhibition celebrates history of Manx tourism
An exhibition celebrating attractions in the south of the Isle of Man during its tourism heyday has gone on display.
Summer Holidays in the South by Rushen Heritage Trust features old photographs and memories from the "golden age" of Manx tourism in the parish.
Volunteer Sylvia Jarrett said the photographs and stories were "rich treasures that we want to share with as many people as possible" which covered "just about every aspect of tourism in the parish".
The exhibition will be on display at the the Rushen Heritage Centre on Bridson Street, which is open Tuesday to Saturday between 10:00 to 16:00 BST, until 1 June.
The display showcases images and stories about Traie Meanagh baths, Bradda Head golf course, the deck chairs on Chapel Beach, and the four cafes, The Sound, Druid's Circle, The Chasms, and Smokey Joe's.
Ms Jarrett said: "There is so much wonderful history on show, and most people from around the Isle of Man will either heave their own memories of tourism in Rushen, or their parents or grandparents will have told them stories."
Rushen Heritage Centre is run by volunteers and puts on a series of exhibitions and acts as a visitor information centre in collaboration with Visit Isle of Man.
