'Vanderpump Rules' star Kristen Doute reveals what happened on trip to Copenhagen with Stassi and Katie

Updated

"Vanderpump Rules" star Kristen Doute is revealing what really went down on her trip to Copenhagen with Stassi Schroeder and Katie Maloney.

During the cast's trip to Mexico on this season of "Pump Rules," Schroeder brought up the trio's trip to Europe when she was explaining why she doesn't love rooming with Doute when they go on trips together. In a quick, passing segment, Stassi says that Kristen freaked out, which caused them to ditch her in Copenhagen as they jetted off to Paris.

Without much more explanation, the episode moves on and focuses on the longtime friends' argument in Mexico. But what really went down in Copenhagen?

During a sit-down interview with AOL Entertainment, Kristen shared her side of the story.

"I had never traveled out of the country in that way before," Doute explained. "I had been to Mexico, Canada and the Bahamas, but I had never been to Europe or experienced jet lag like that in my life. We went to Copenhagen for four days, we were going to be flying to Paris for three days and then I was coming home to go to Turks and Caicos with [my boyfriend] Carter. It was a lot. The first two days, I couldn’t get on the right schedule and I was waking up at 1 am every day like it was 9 am."

"I was like, 'I can’t live like this!'" she went on. "The lack of sleep made me feel really crazy, and then I got really homesick. I missed Carter and my dogs and, honestly, there was a lot of really bad s--t going on in the world and in Europe [at the time], so I was constantly nervous about that. It was just a lot of anxiety. And being around Carter makes me feel safe, so if he had been there I would’ve been way less anxious."

Between her jet lag, missing her boyfriend and simply being overwhelmed by the whole experience, Kristen decided that she had "had enough."

"I was crying and yelling and was like, 'I just want to go home,'" she recalled. "And my friends weren’t making me feel any better about it: They weren’t there to comfort me and they were just like, 'Get over it!' Then they left me. They literally got in a car and went to the airport. I was supposed to go to Paris. The Airbnb in Paris was under my name. I was like, 'Should I cancel their Airbnb?' But I’m not that big of an a-hole. It ended up working out, and I started talking to Stassi again, like, two weeks later and probably didn’t talk to Katie for over a month."

Ever since making up, though, Kristen and Stassi's friendship "is the best it's ever been." As Kristen explained to us, they've learned over the years to let things go -- something that took growing up, more self-awareness and, in Kristen's words, "not being such a brat about everything."

"Now, we're able to say that what Stassi and Katie and I need out of a friendship is different," she told AOL Entertainment. "You start treating friendships individually rather than thinking that you are going to treat everyone the exact same way. Everyone says that Katie, Stassi and I share a brain, right? The 'Three Witches of WeHo,' which, yeah, we’re best friends, but we all handle things very, very differently."

"Vanderpump Rules" airs on Bravo at 10 p.m. EST on Mondays.
