DNCE talks performing 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' with Bonnie Tyler during the solar eclipse

Updated

It's time for the solar eclipse, and DNCE is about to put on the performance of a lifetime.

The Joe Jonas-fronted band is performing "Total Eclipse of the Heart" with Bonnie Tyler, who made the song at No. 1 hit back in 1983, aboard Royal Caribbean's Total Eclipse Cruise on Monday, and we briefly caught up with the band over email to hear about the occasion.

"When the opportunity came around [and we found out] it was during the solar eclipse, it was a no brainer," the band said. "It's really awesome when you get the chance to perform in cool and different locations or atmospheres."

"Performing during the solar eclipse on a cruise ship with Bonnie Tyler is pretty unique," they continued.

The "Cake By The Ocean" hitmakers, who have also collaborated with stars like Hailee Steinfeld and Nicki Minaj in the past, named Paul McCartney as another artist that they'd love to work with on a future project.

DNCE has been touring in Asia this summer, which is where they celebrated Jonas' 28th birthday on August 6. Even though the celebrations were heavily documented on social media, we still had to get a few more details about the bash.

"It started in Hong Kong," they said of the party. "A friend of ours threw a party for us where they put on a traditional dance with drums and dragons. It was amazing!"

"The celebration still hasn't stopped," they concluded.

With DNCE, the party literally never stops -- even during the solar eclipse.
