Megyn Kelly reportedly wants 'to help people the way Oprah did'

Megyn Kelly reportedly wants to to be the next Oprah Winfrey.

According to Page Six, the former FOX News anchor wants to completely change her tune when she officially starts her turn at NBC later this year, and that may mean emulating the Queen of Daytime.

"There was a lot of tough news to report on her show at FOX News," a source told the site. "A lot of combative interviewing, going after people. Doing that every night was difficult."

Indeed, Kelly didn't have it easy during her nearly decade-long stint at the conservative cable news channel. The 46-year-old received constant criticism online for a variety of things and famously sparred with CEO Roger Ailes before he was ousted, as well as fellow FOX News personality Bill O'Reilly. So, it's not a complete surprise that Kelly would expect a different experience at NBC.

"Megyn feels she has more to offer," the source continued. "She wants to help people the way Oprah did, and do something more positive. She'll be focusing on issues and bringing in real people as well as celebrities."

"Plus, she has a sense of humor and she wants to use that," the insider finished.

The story goes on to explain that NBC is actively searching for an executive producer to take the helm of Kelly's upcoming program, though "Megyn doesn't want a Lauer loyalist running her show. She wants a team she can trust and that will have her back."

Kelly will reportedly helm NBC's 9 a.m. hour during weekdays, as well as the 9 p.m. hour on Sunday nights. By bringing her into its lineup, NBC News has already lost one loyal personality in the process: Tamron Hall, who controversially decided to leave the network after she found out that Kelly would be replacing her and Al Roker in the "Today" show's third hour.
