Democratic Rep. Al Green calls for President Trump's impeachment

Democratic Rep. Al Green called for President Trump's impeachment on Monday, saying "no one is above the law."

The Texas congressman issued a statement announcing his support of impeachment on Monday, in which he claims America's 45th president has acted in obstructing a lawful investigation of Trump's campaign ties to Russian influence in the 2016 election.

"President Trump is not above the law," Green says. "He has committed an impeachable act and must be charged. To do otherwise would cause some Americans to lose respect for, and obedience to, our societal norms."

Green even listed the acts which he believes are impeachable offenses, including Trump's firing of former FBI Director James Comey and, separately, Trump's having "acknowledged he considered the [Russian] investigation" when he fired Comey.

Green is not the first elected official to call for Trump's impeachment. Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters of California has previously stated Trump's "ties with Russia" will lead to eventual impeachment and blasted the president on numerous occasions using blunt and direct language.
