March Madness visual recap: The best pictures from Thursday night's games

Sweet 16 is finally here, and March Madness fans couldn't be more ecstatic. Last night the first four exciting teams walked onto the court ready to fight to move onto the next round.

Up first, the Michigan Wolverines took on the Oregon Ducks. This game was the nail-biting event of the night. Derrick Walton of Michigan missed the final 3-pointer of the night, ensuring a victory for Oregon. With a final score of 69-68, #3 seeded Oregon held onto their one point lead to defeat #7 seeded Michigan.

Thirty minutes later, the #4 seeded West Virginia Mountaineers tipped off against the #1 seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs. Tied at 30-30 at the first half Gonzaga kicked it into overdrive to pull ahead with a final score of West Virginia 58, Gonzaga 61.

Later that evening, the #4 seeded Purdue Boilermakers took on the #1 seeded Kansas Jayhawks. At the first half, Kansas was ahead by 7 points with a score of 57-50. During the second half Kansas pulled away, adding another 51 points to their score, ensuring them the game. The Jayhawks won with a final score of 98-66 advancing them to the next round.

For the final game of the night the #11 seeded Xavier Musketeers faced off against the #2 seeded Arizona wildcats. Ending the night the with another incredibly close game, Arizona was in the lead after the first half with a score of 37-35. During the second half Xavier fought tooth and nail to win the game with a final score of Musketeers 73, Wildcats 71.
