Meghan Markle shares her favorite poem—and it includes a shocking F-bomb

Updated

By now you may have heard that Meghan Markle guest edited British Vogue's September issue, out on shelves this Friday. However, the magazine started dropping tidbits from the issue as early as Monday, July 29th, revealing the cover and a video behind the making of it, as well as an interview between the duchess and Michelle Obama. Within the issue, Meghan also took the time to share a favorite poem that very surprisingly includes the F-word.

The poem's author, Matt Haig, shared a picture of his published poem on his Instagram account on Wednesday. In it, the duchess briefly introduced the poem on the page, writing that it's "a personal favourite and the best reminder during the summer season... or any season, as a matter of fact."

The poem, titled "A note from the beach," talks from a the point of view of the beach, if it were to have one. "Hello. I am the beach. I am created by waves and currents," it starts out.

"And I have to tell you something. I don't care about your body. I am a beach. I literally don't give a f*ck," it continues.

The poem is meant to promote body positivity and seemingly throw shade at the clickbait term, "beach body." Here, any body is a "beach body" as longs as it's at the beach.

It's not surprising that the poem is a favorite of Meghan's, seeing as how she's recently been praised for showing off a realistic post-partum body and is good friends with Serena Williams, who graced the covers of Sports Illustrated and Harper's Bazaar in July with zero-retouching.

Meghan wrote in her editor's letter that throughout the rest of the magazine, readers can expect to learn about things like sustainable fashion, internal beauty, meditation, fearless women and more. She calls it, "an issue of both substance and levity."
