Meghan Markle wows in Givenchy for first solo engagement to open Oceania exhibit

Gorgeous in Givenchy!

The Duchess of Sussex arrived at the Royal Academy of Arts on Tuesday afternoon to help open the Oceania exhibit, which features 500 pieces of art and artifacts from the Pacific. The appearance marks Meghan's first solo royal engagement for the duchess, who chose Givenchy to mark the milestone.

The black, long-sleeved silhouette was the perfect choice for the evening event. Featuring a velvet detail and belted bodice, Meghan's sophisticated dress stole the show the moment she walked into the museum -- though we're not sure the queen would have approved of the slit!

The 37-year-old also ditched her bouncy curls once again in favor of a simple and straight blowout, a decision many believe could indicate she's expecting.

The female-led brand has been a go-to for Meghan for many royal events, both before and after her engagement. Most notably, Clare Waight Keller, the artistic director behind the brand, was responsible for the royal's stunning wedding gown.

It's been a busy few days for the duchess. Last week, she launched her first solo project with survivors of the Grenfell Tower fire, while yesterday she stepped out to play netball with honorees at the annual Coach Core Awards. More on that royal initiative in the video above
