Best Bites: Piñata cake

Cinco de Mayo is only a few days away, so bring the fiesta right to your kitchen with this colorful piñata cake. Layered with bright colors and creamy frosting, this neon dessert is packed with an explosion of all your favorite gummies, chocolates and candies. Top it off with a handful of rainbow sprinkles and you've got yourself a party.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups self-rising flour

  • 1 cup regular flour

  • 2 2/3 cups caster sugar

  • 10.5 oz melted butter

  • 6 eggs, beaten

  • 1 3/4 cups milk

  • 2 tsp vanilla bean paste

  • Food coloring

  • Candy

Directions

  1. Mix flour together in mixer.

  2. Add sugar.

  3. Mix, mix, mix.

  4. Add butter and eggs.

  5. Pour in milk and vanilla bean paste.

  6. Mix on high for 3 minutes.

  7. Divide into 4 bowls.

  8. Add food coloring.

  9. Mix, mix, mix.

  10. Divide into 4 greased flour pans.

  11. Bake at 320 degrees for 30-40 minutes.

  12. Cut out center of two colors.

  13. Frost bottom layer.

  14. Place cutout on top.

  15. Frost.

  16. Fill with candy.

  17. Add top layer

  18. Frost.

  19. Decorate.

  20. Enjoy.
