Met Gala 2017: All of the major red carpet arrivals

Updated

Just as the Oscars has been dubbed "Hollywood's Biggest Night," the Met Gala (officially known as the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute benefit) is undoubtedly "Fashion's Biggest Night."

Every year, Vogue and Anna Wintour host the glamorous affair at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on the first Monday in May -- and the biggest stars hit the red carpet to bring that year's theme to life. This year's theme? "Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between." Katy Perry gave us a taste of what to expect on the May cover of Vogue.

Among the first famous faces to arrive were Anna Wintour, Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen (which comes as no surprise, considering they're all co-hosts and co-chairs of the event). If you ask us, Katy Perry takes the cake for wildest look, in Maison Margiela by John Galliano. Rihanna, Tracee Ellis Ross and Helen Lasichanh were the few who actually wore the designer of the night, Comme des Garçons.

Kanye West skipped the event this year to stay at home in L.A. with his two kiddos, and Gwyneth Paltrow made a comeback after not having attended since 2013. Also of note is the color of the "red" carpet, which appears to be blue and white this year.
