Katy Perry gives us a taste of upcoming Met Gala with May Vogue cover

Updated

In case you haven't heard, the theme of this year's Met Gala -- which is famously on the first Monday in May -- is Comme des Garçons. And if you have no idea what that is (the recognizable heart-shaped logo with two eyes may ring a bell, though), look to Katy Perry. The singer is gracing the May cover of Vogue, which hits newsstands on April 25, and she's bringing the imaginative designs of Comme des Garçons to life.

Get a little taste of the issue here:

Comme des Garçons is a Japanese fashion label founded in 1969, and it's French for "Like Boys." As The New York Times phrases it, the brand's designer, Rei Kawakubo, "is the first living designer to be so recognized since Yves Saint Laurent in 1983." To put it simply, everyone is mesmerized by Kawakubo and her art -- and we're right there with them. Think wildly eccentric and architectural pieces -- or as Vogue refers to it, "the most outrageous clothes you've seen on [Katy Perry] yet."

If the photos above are any indication of what's to come, let's just say this: May 1 can't come soon enough. We're intrigued.
