Melania Trump attends event with the president in a $1,495 dress

First lady Melania Trump stepped out with President Donald Trump Tuesday evening for a reception in the East Room of the White House, and she donned what appeared to be a $1,495 little black dress by Roland Mouret. She paired it with a pair of subtle, barely-there black pumps.

The joint appearance is being deemed "rare," not only because the last formal event the first couple attended together was the 2017 Governors Ball on February 25, but also because FLOTUS notoriously spends the majority of her time in NYC with their son, Barron. Her living situation has proven to be a point of contention as of late, with 108,000 people signing a petition urging the first lady to move to the White House or pay for security costs herself.

Not to mention that the duo stepped out amidst rumblings that their marriage is in trouble. Last week, rumors swirled that they sleep in separate beds, thus reinforcing reports that Melania is "miserable" in her marriage and as the first lady. Despite the reports, though, a friend of Melania's recently spoke out about the "rabid" rumors, insisting that they are "laughable and fictional."

At the Tuesday reception, in addition to assuring senators that another deal to repeal ObamaCare is forthcoming, the president also took a moment to praise his wife, saying, "I want to just congratulate the first lady on having done a really beautiful job. The room, they say, has never looked better, but who knows?"
