Liam Hemsworth files for divorce from Miley Cyrus: Report

It's official.

Liam Hemsworth has filed for divorce from his longtime partner Miley Cyrus, according to new reports.

Documents obtained by People show that Hemsworth, 29, filed in Los Angeles on Wednesday, citing irreconcilable differences. He has reportedly hired famed Hollywood divorce lawyer Laura Wasser as his representation.

Inside sources told TMZ that the couple "had a prenup, keeping their earnings during the marriage separate, so there won't be a fight over money." Plus, because the couple never had any children, "the divorce will be easy breezy." That being said, it's unclear who will get the various animals they shared.

The filing comes just weeks after the former couple announcing their split earlier this month, just eight months after tying the knot last Christmas. Photos of the singer kissing Kaitlyn Carter (Brody Jenner's ex) surfaced on the internet while on a girls' trip in Lake Como, Italy.

A rep for the exes confirmed their split in a joint statement:

“Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,” the statement read. “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”

The "Malibu" singer and the "Hunger Games" actor first met on the set of "The Last Song" in 2009 and quickly started dating, before getting engaged in 2011. They called off their engagement in 2013 before reuniting in 2015.
