Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton make telling move at Trooping the Colour: 'Nothing makes me more happy'

Putting the past behind them!

Duchess Meghan took her first official post-baby outing on Saturday for the annual Trooping the Colour celebration in honor of the queen's birthday, and a telling move made by her and sister-in-law Kate Middleton garnered praise on social media.

The two duchesses rode in the same carriage to Buckingham Palace for their annual balcony appearance, marking a big change from last year during Meghan's first time at the event, when she and Harry rode in their own carriage without any of the royals.

This year, it was Kate, Meghan, Prince Harry and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall all riding together in the parade to the palace as thousands of royal watchers looked on both in person and online. The group smiled, chatted and waved as they made their way to Buckingham Palace.

The unexpected sight of Kate and Meghan in the same carriage especially delighted people on Twitter.

"Nothing makes me more happy than Kate + Meghan," one person tweeted, while another added that "the crowd screaming for Harry & Meghan with Kate in the same cart are the moments I live for."

"CAMILLA, KATE, MEGHAN AND HARRY IN THE SAME CARRIAGE," another fan exclaimed. "IT’S WHY I WOKE UP EARLY TO SEE THIS."

Meghan and Kate's show of unity on Saturday followed nearly a year of reports that they had tension behind-the-scenes, which are reports that they've been actively trying to dispel during public appearances, like in March when they shared a kiss on the cheek when greeting one another during a church service on Commonwealth Day.

Prince Charles and Prince William weren't in the horse-drawn carriage on Saturday because, as heirs the thrown high in the line of succession, they ride in separately on horses.
