How Meghan Markle got former 'brutal drinker' Prince Harry to quit booze

Updated

Meghan Markle has had a hugely positive impact on Prince Harry's lifestyle.

Express reports that the Duchess of Sussex has "banned" her husband from consuming caffeine, tea and booze, the latter of which he dropped for the former "Suits" actress' pregnancy. Instead, she has pushed him to consume more mineral water.

Getting the notorious partier to stop drinking is quite the achievement, as a source noted that "he's been a pretty brutal drinker since he was a young teenager."

"He was always fidgeting and on the go, always looking for the next thrill," the insider explained. "He was a great laugh, but it was always very full on. Now his new regimen doesn't make him the most entertaining party guest in the world, but he's definitely more chilled and relaxed."

The royal family was reportedly "amazed" by Harry's new habits, which were on display at the Queen's intimate Christmas celebration, where Meghan and Kate reportedly made up after months of alleged feuding.

The insider was sure to point out that, though it was Meghan who urged him to make the change, it's not something that Harry has done against his will: He's happier with his healthier lifestyle.

"All she did was show him there's another way to live, and he's become a huge fan," the source said. "He eats well, doesn't poison his body, exercises, does a bit of yoga and is a lot happier."

The new report echoes what other sources had previously said about Meghan's influence on Harry, which has also included getting him to work out more often and quit smoking.

"Meghan is a beautiful influence on Harry," a source told People. "They both worked hard to be the healthiest they could be before they got married."

"Meghan encouraged Harry to get rid of any remnants of his party lifestyle," the insider added. "She wanted him to get in shape and be healthy."

Her efforts have also paid off immensely, with pals noticing that he's lost weight and has "felt amazing" over the past year.

"He couldn't have done it without her support," a friend said.
