'Bachelor' Sean Lowe gives update on wife Catherine Giudici's post-pregnancy 'recovery process'

Updated

All good on the home front!

Former "Bachelor" couple Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici welcomed their second son, Isaiah, together back in May, and Lowe says that "everyone is doing great."

"Catherine is being an awesome, supportive wife and mother right now," Lowe exclusively told AOL.com's Gibson Johns this week. "She's doing really, really well. We had a scheduled C-section. There's a bit of a recovery process there, and there's a lot of soreness. But she's recovering, and our baby, Isaiah, is doing awesome. He just basically sleeps all day, which makes it a little easier for mom and dad. But yeah everyone is doing great. We're thrilled."

As for his older son, Samuel, Lowe admitted that he and Catherine worried a bit that he would be jealous of the attention that his new baby brother would be getting -- but he's been anything but jealous since Isaiah's arrival.

"Samuel is doing great," Lowe said with a smile. "We weren't sure how he would react. There were a couple of times where we held our friends' babies and he got a little jealous, so we thought there would be some of that. But he's just been loving it."

"When we were in the hospital, we said, 'Hey, Samuel, go and kiss your brother!' And he walked over and kind of kissed the baby on the head and everybody in the room was like, 'Awww!'" Lowe added. "So, he realized, 'If I do this, they really like it!' So now he gives him, like, a hundred kisses a day."

There's also someone else that Samuel and Isaiah have to compete with for their father's attention: The family dog. Lowe has had his chocolate lab, Ellie, for 11 years now, and he jokingly refers to Ellie as his "favorite child."

"My boys have got to realize something really quickly: You have to have a sense of humor if you're going to live in the Lowe house," he said of the joke. "Of course I love my sons, but Ellie has a special place in my heart. She's 11 years old, and she's been with me long before 'The Bachelor.'"

"I give her more attention now because I'm so conscious of her not feeling left out," he said of balancing having a dog and two sons. "I'm always giving her extra love and affection."

Lowe's love for dogs goes beyond his own household, too. After helping aid the Hurricane Harvey recovery process and seeing all of the abandoned pets in the Houston area, Lowe partnered with the Banfield Foundation for a public service announcement encouraging pet owners to prepare for the unexpected. With donations here of a certain size, pet owners will get a pet disaster preparedness kit and Banfield will donate a kit to a pet in need.
