Olivia Culpo reveals one pet peeve that 'really bothers' her

Updated

Whatever you do, don't tell Olivia Culpo what she should be wearing.

The former Miss Universe winner stepped out on Monday night for the 2018 CFDA Awards at the Brooklyn Museum, where she walked the red carpet with her date, the designer Rebecca Minkoff.

The stylish duo stopped to talk to AOL.com's Gibson Johns on the black-and-white carpet, where Culpo opened up about how she ensures that she continues to push the envelope when it comes to her style and revealed a major pet peeve of hers in the process.

"For me, what’s most important is keeping myself in check and really paying attention to when I’m listening to my gut or listening to what other people think or say or tell me what to wear," Culpo explained. "That really bothers me."

"It really bothers me when someone tries to tell me what to wear to the point where it almost makes me work harder to wear something that they’re not going to like," she added with a laugh.

As for Minkoff, who famously launched her design career by designing a popular version of the "I Love New York" t-shirt back in 2001, she told us that it's her willingness to really pay attention to her consumer that pushes her to continue to innovate.

"You have to listen to your consumer: what she wants, how she wants it, when she wants it," she explained. "And just give her it. Whether that’s see-now-buy-now, wear-now-buy-now -- whatever it is -- she wants it now and she wants to be excited about what you’re providing for her."
