Martha Hunt gushes about friendship with Lily Aldridge: 'I know I can count on her'

Martha Hunt has nothing but glowing things to say about fellow model and friend, Lily Aldridge.

The model stepped out on Monday night for the 2018 CFDA Awards as a date of Nadja Swarovski and, while speaking exclusively with AOL.com's Gibson Johns on the black-and-white carpet, Hunt couldn't help but gush about Aldridge when asked which other models have impacted her career the most.

"Lily Aldridge has been such a great inspiration to me," Hunt told AOL.com. "Not only has she always looked chic and refined on the carpets, but she’s also always led by example in her personal life. I’ve learned a lot through her. She’s always been there when I needed advice, I know I can count on her and she’ll answer the call when I call her."

Monday night's CFDA Awards were the first ceremony to feature an Influencer Award, which was given to Kim Kardashian West. While the decision to honor influencers at American fashion's biggest awards show was a divisive one, Hunt thought that it was a "genius idea."

"In the context of fashion, influence has revolutionized the industry," she explained. "People who have a lot of influence can become the new advertisers, so to speak. If anything, it’s given a lot more power to influencers because people may want to buy [something] that they’ve seen on an influencer. It’s a genius idea for an award. That’s the world we’re living in."

As for her ensemble for the evening, Hunt opted for a blinged-out look that featured crystals all around her eyes, Swarovski diamond jewelry and a stunning Thom Browne gown.

"I’m going as a date of Swarovski, so I wanted to think of an innovative way to incorporate their crystals into my makeup, so I collaborated with my makeup artist and we figure out a way to do something a bit more editorial for the red carpet," Hunt said of her look. "The jewelry complements it all so well. It’s their new fine jewelry collection, which are all sustainable, lab-grown diamonds. They’re conflict free, which sends a great message, and I’m wearing a couture Thom Browne look. I just went full editorial vibes tonight."
