Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's official engagement photos were revealed to the public on Thursday morning when Kensington Palace posted two gorgeous photos of the couple on Twitter.

In the first photo, Meghan and Harry are seen embracing each other as they sit on outdoor stone steps. Harry dons a simple blue suit with a matching tie, while Meghan stuns in a black dress with a sheer top covered in gold leaf embroidery. Her left hand is placed on top of Harry's, with her custom engagement ring firmly visible.

The second photo -- which the Palace has chosen to publish in black-and-white -- is significantly more intimate. The close-up shot shows both Meghan and Harry with their eyes closed and heads pressed together. All smiles, Meghan has her hand on Harry's cheek, with her engagement ring once again front and center. She's wearing a white sweater, while he's wearing a dark topcoat.

Kensington Palace notes that Harry and Meghan's official engagement photos were taken by fashion photographer Alexi Lubomirski earlier this week at Frogmore House, Windsor.

The photos come nearly four weeks after the private couple announced their engagement to the world on November 27. They marked the occasion with an official engagement photo call, as well as a revealing sit-down interview with the BBC, during which they revealed never-before-known details about Harry's proposal and their relationship overall.

"It happened a few weeks ago," Harry said about his proposal at the time. "Earlier this month here at our cottage on just a standard, typical night for us."

"Just a cozy night," Markle interjected. "What were we doing? Just roasting chicken? Trying to roast a chicken. And it was just an amazing surprise. It was so sweet, and natural and very romantic ... he got on one knee!"

"She didn't even let me finish," Harry added. "Then there were hugs and I had the ring in my finger and I was like, 'Can I give you the ring?' And she was like, 'Oh, yes! The ring!' So, no, it was a really nice moment; it was just the two of us and I think I managed to catch her by surprise, as well."

As for Markle's engagemnt ring, it was designed by Harry, along with Cleave and Company, Court Jewellers and Medallists to the queen. It's on a gold band and features a cushion diamond from Botswana, along with two outside stones from the "personal collection" of Princess Diana.

Four days after they announced their engagement, the couple attended their first official royal engagement together, where they greeted fans eager to congratulate them.

On Wednesday, Markle joined Harry at his grandmother Queen Elizabeth's annual pre-Christmas lunch, where she met more members of his extended royal family.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to wed on May 19, 2018.
