The reality star garnered criticism from some of her cast mates when she started dating "the one who got away" Rob Valletta soon after she split from ex-husband Mike Shay last year. The pair made their debut as a romantic couple at Scheana's birthday party, which was the central event during Monday night's season 6 premiere episode on Bravo.

Though the couple had been dating ever since, they recently sparked speculation that they'd broken up when a pair of cryptic Instagram posts.

"No matter where life takes us, he’ll always be my fave," Scheana captioned a photo of the two on November 10. Three days ago, Valletta posted a lengthy Instagram post about his relationship with Scheana, which he ended by saying, "I have no idea what the future looks like, but i know even as friends we will always support each other and I’m excited to see what life has In store next."

12 years ago, I began to develop a relationship. It is one that has lead @scheana and I through so many different stages: friends, crazy kids, boyfriend and girlfriend, co-hosts, beer pong champions, charger fans ... charger haters ... and then supporters. Throughout all those varying phases, and over the course of 12 years, one thing has never changed - we have always been able to make each other smile. Now, most people will try and define a relationship with a label. I define a relationship as the connection you build with someone over time, based on three simple factors: love, respect and kindness. Tonight, you have an opportunity to see one chapter of our story. It was truly a very unique opportunity and, if one thing is certain, it's that I have a lot more respect for Scheana because of it. It takes a lot of courage to allow people to see inside your world, and she handles it so well. I can’t express enough how proud I am of her every day because of how she handles herself. I learned one very important thing going through this process - you never have to explain yourself to others if you realize they can only see you through their own perception or idea that they have created of you. Always be yourself and own it, because that's where you will find yourself smiling the most. I have no idea what the future looks like, but i know even as friends we will always support each other and I’m excited to see what life has In store next.

On Friday, while discussing some controversial comments that she made about her ex during her birthday party, Scheana cleared the air when it came to her relationship status -- and what she meant by those comments in the first place.

"What I got the most hate for were some drunken comments I made at my birthday party," she said of fans' reaction to the season premiere. "I was never discrediting my marriage; I was never saying that while I was with Shay that I wanted to be with Rob. I know it came off that way, but it's just that anyone who knew me before Shay when I was with Rob knew that that was always my person and the one that got away."

"Everyone was saying that I was 'rushing into this,' but, no, this was the guy that I always wanted," Scheana continued. "Not taking away from my marriage, but if it was anyone else in the world, I wouldn't have jumped in so quickly. But, no, no, no, this is the one that got away, and this is the guy who I always wanted it to work out with and it never did. And now I have an opportunity to make it work again, which it still didn't."

"But that's just kind of our thing now," she added with a smile. "We'll figure it out one day. [...] Anyone else I would've taken it real slow and just stayed single, which I'm doing now. Now I'm, like, single."

Plus, Scheana added, the conversation in question between her and SUR Restaurant owner Lisa Vanderpump was filmed when she was uncharacteristically drunk on camera. A lot of fans may not realize that the 32-year-old normally never drinks heavily while filming for "Vanderpump Rules."

"I don't drink really ever when we film," she explained to AOL Entertainment. "I'll sip and maybe get a little buzzed, but I don't get drunk on camera. For six seasons, I never have. Anyone who knows me or films with me knows that I'm the responsible one. But this season I let loose. I was in a comfortable relationship with someone who didn't have an issue with alcohol, so I took a few more shots that I normally would!"
