Director M. Night Shyamalan teases potential 'Split' sequel: 'Maybe there's a future'

Updated

M. Night Shyamalan's highly-anticipated film, "Split," hasn't even officially hit theaters yet, and he's already teasing a potential sequel for the James McAvoy-led thriller.

The gripping movie tells the story of Kevin (McAvoy), who has 23 alternate personalities, and the three teenage girls that he holds captive. Though "Split's" main character has so many characters living inside of his one body, the film only showcases eight or nine of them. And, when I asked Shyamalan why audiences don't get to experience all 23, he played it coy.

"This was the introduction to this character," he explained. "And I want you to taste the world of as many as I can do in one movie and for you to connect with them."

"And then, maybe there's a future..." he said with a laugh.

I think we can read between the lines there.
