Co​urtney Cole is about to blow up in the country music scene. AOL.com had a chance to meet with Cole at the Tortuga Music Festival in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, this past weekend, where she talked about her connection to country and her advice for other performers.

The Louisiana native's love for country started at a young age. Cole told AOL.com that she and her dad "would always drive around and listen to country music with the windows down."

That's where her "emotional connection" was born, she said. Cole remembers singing with her karaoke machine to the Dixie Chicks and "bawling" her eyes out. The bubbly singer said that's what she is trying to achieve with her own music -- giving other people to connect through her songs.
