Hillary and Chelsea Clinton weigh in on controversial Trump administration orders

Updated

Hillary Clinton weighed in again on Tuesday in response to President Donald Trump's executive order banning immigrants and refugees from seven predominantly Muslim countries.

The former secretary of state shared on Twitter, "What I'm thinking about today," with links to two articles. The first was a link to Khizr Khan's recent interview with The New Yorker, sharing his thoughts on Trump's travel ban.

The second article following "a vet who fought with those now excluded," links to a New York Times opinion piece written by Zachary Iscol, a member of the United States Marine Corps. Iscol details working and fighting side-by-side with and Iraqi interpreter, who has obtained visas and Iscol argues is just as deserving to live in the U.S. as the American soldiers he risked his life to help.

The new ban signed into order by President Trump affects the United States' acceptance of refugees and immigrants from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Sudan, Yemen, Libya and Somalia. The ban blocks Syrian refugees indefinitely and suspends refugees from the other countries for 120 days. Immigrants face a three months suspension.

Clinton first tweeted her stance against the ban on Saturday evening, saying "I stand with the people gathered across the country tonight defending our values & our Constitution. This is not who we are."

Hillary Clinton's daughter, Chelsea Clinton, also took to Twitter on Tuesday to voice her concerns over another controversial Trump administration move.

The White House's statement on International Holocaust Remembrance Day did not include any reference to the six million Jews killed during the Nazi's attempted genocide. The official statement only referenced the "innocent people" terrorized by Adolf Hitler's Nazi regime.

The statement was met strong pushback on social media.
