Met Gala 2019: Athletes and sports personalities hit the red carpet

Tom Brady and wife Gisele Bündchen are staples at the annual Met Gala, but the New England Patriots quarterback wasn't the only superstar athlete to get dressed to the nines for the evening.

While none of the athletes were dressed up as literal chandeliers or entered on an ancient Egyptian bed carried by shirtless pharaohs, they still managed to pull off some show-stopping ensembles.

All eyes were of course on Brady and Bündchen who donned complementing maroon and pink designer outfits. Brady was also smartly accessorized, sporting Swiss watch manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen’s Portugieser Perpetual Calendar Edition "150 Years" timepiece on his wrist.

Super Bowl LIII MVP and Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman made an appearance alongside his teammate and was also seen hamming it up with Cleveland Browns receiver Odell Beckham Jr., who showed up in a black cap, bow tie and kilt.

Recently retired NBA legend Dwyane Wade was in attendance alongside his wife, Gabrielle Union. Tennis star Serena Williams stole the show in a bright yellow and pink gown, and the newly engaged Alex Rodriguez showed up in a pink tux to match the "red" carpet.
