Met Gala 2019: Serena Williams has her best red carpet moment ever in tennis ball neon gown: See her unexpected footwear

Serena can do it all!

The all-time tennis great hit the 2019 Met Gala red carpet early on Monday night following fellow co-host Lady Gaga's show-stopping performance art on the red carpet. Williams showed up with her entrepreneur husband, Alexis Ohanian, on her arm.

For her ensemble, Williams opted for a neon yellow Versace gown adorned with pink and yellow leaves with exaggerated sleeves, a criss-cross back and a lengthy train. To give her stunning ensemble a classic Serena twist, the 23-time grand slam champion donned the volt OFF-WHITE Air Force 1s on her feet in a neon color that perfectly matched her glamorous gown -- and, it has to be said, the color of tennis balls.

Her husband, Ohanian, opted for a classic white tuxedo as to not outshine his wife on her big night out. He also rocked sneakers, wearing custom leather Atoms shoes for the event.

Serena's decision to wear Versace for one of the biggest nights of her life outside of the sport that made her a household name shouldn't come as a surprise, as she and designer Donatella Versace are longtime friends. She also wore Versace to the Met Gala back in 2017 when she was pregnant.

The tennis star, who is co-hosting the ball along with Lady Gaga, Harry Styles and Alessandro Michele of Gucci, will also co-host a Met Gala after-party on Monday night with Kim Kardashian, Trevor Noah and more stars.

She's scheduled to play the French Open later this month.
