Reports: QB Bradford to sign with Cardinals

Minnesota Vikings free-agent quarterback Sam Bradford is expected to sign with the Arizona Cardinals when free agency officially opens on Wednesday, according to multiple reports.

Per the reports, it's a one-year deal for $20 million with $15 million guaranteed, along with a team option worth $20 million for 2019.

The No. 1 overall pick in 2010, Bradford has already earned more than $114 million in his career, ranking 14th in NFL history.

The 30-year-old played in just one full game for the Vikings last season, torching the New Orleans Saints for 346 yards and three touchdowns in Week 1. However, discomfort in his left knee -- which has required two previous surgeries to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament -- limited Bradford to just one half of play for the remainder of the season.

According to a report last month, Bradford has been told by Dr. James Andrews that his left knee joint is sound, with ligaments intact and no reason to be concerned moving forward. Andrews performed an arthroscopic procedure on Bradford's knee in November, cleaning up a bone spur and some cartilage that was causing discomfort.

Through two seasons in Minnesota, Bradford made 17 starts, completing 71.8 percent of his passes for 4,259 yards, 23 touchdowns and five interceptions, good for a QB rating of 101.1. He has a career rating of 85.1 and a record of 34-45-1 as a starter.

Case Keenum, who replaced Bradford as the Vikings' starter, intends to join the Denver Broncos in free agency as Minnesota is expected to sign former Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins.

The Cardinals were rumored to have interest in Cousins but had less cap space to offer than Minnesota and the New York Jets. With Carson Palmer's retirement and Drew Stanton and Blaine Gabbert hitting free agency, Arizona won't have any signal-caller under contract until Bradford signs his deal, which can officially happen after 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
