Winnebago County Circuit Judge Thomas Gritton also ordered the 21-year-old father to steer clear of alcohol and drugs, get a job or attend school full time, and undergo counseling, the local outlet reported.

Court documents obtained by the newspaper revealed that Root shook his infant daughter and knelt on her legs while he changed her diaper March 10.

Doctors said that Root's daughter had suffered nine broken ribs from the incident in addition to a broken arm and leg, Fox 11 reported.
