Anti-fascist stabs innocent man after haircut gets him mistaken for a neo-Nazi

A Colorado man believes he was stabbed by a stranger who thought he was a neo-Nazi, the Miami Herald reported.

Though motives for the attacker remain unclear, the outlet reported that the incident may have had something to do with the victim's haircut.

Joshua Witt, 26, was exiting his car outside a restaurant in Sheridan, Colorado, when he was charged and stabbed by a man yelling, "Are you one of them neo-Nazis?"

The stranger aimed for Witt's head over his car door but Witt was able to block the stranger's blow with his hand, which he said later needed stitches.

After escaping the dangerous situation, Witt later posted about the incident on Facebook, sharing photos of his bandaged hand and bloodied clothing.

Witt, who in no way identifies as a neo-Nazi, expressed some confusion as to why a stranger would finger him for a fascist. He wrote that he had no tattoos or regalia that would "indicate anything like that."

"There is nothing on the car that I am aware of that might suggest it. My head is not shaved," he wrote. "I just don't understand this world anymore lol people are crazy."

He said told the New York Post the only explanation he said his friends could come up with for the attack: “They say it’s my haircut.”

Now, Witt says he's considering changing his look.

Sheridan Police Chief Mark Campbell told Buzzfeed News an investigation is under way.

"We are investigating this situation as an assault and a biased motivated crime," he said.

As of now, police have yet to locate the suspect.
