The Dayton Daily News reports the infant's body was found in the backyard of Richardson's home in Carlisle, Ohio, last week.

According to paper, the remains were discovered after police received a tip from a doctor's office.

The prosecutor's office is reportedly waiting on the coroner to determine the infant's official cause of death.

Richardson, who recently graduated from high school, pleaded not guilty to the charges on Friday.

Her attorney, Charles Rittgers, told the newspaper the former cheerleader is a "good student."

"She didn't drink. She wasn't a partier or smoker," Rittgers told the local outlet. "By all measures, a very good girl who helped children... She's by all means a very good person."

If convicted, Richardson could face up to five years in prison.

Her preliminary hearing date is slated for Aug. 1.
