Where is Barack Obama? The former president goes river rafting during Indonesia vacation

Former President Barack Obama and his family were spotted on a river rafting trip on the resort island of Bali Monday.

Barack and Michelle Obama were pictured alongside daughters Sasha and Malia Obama paddling down the Ayung River for part of their vacation in Indonesia, where he resided for several years as a child.

The family arrived in Bali Friday for the nine-day trip, during which the former president is scheduled to speak at an Indonesian Diaspora Congress in Jakarta on July 1.

Indonesian President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo invited the family to visit the country after Obama left office, and even asked the family of four to tour the presidential Bogor Palace in West Java during their stay.

The trip is a bit of a homecoming for Barack Obama, who lived in Indonesia in 1967 when he was 6 years old after his mother, Ann Dunham, took a second husband, Lolo Soetoro, who is Indonesian. He later returned to Hawaii to live with his grandparents at age 10.

The Obamas are reportedly staying at the Four Seasons luxury hotel in Bali, where rooms are expected to run up to several thousand a night.

But the pair's record-setting $60 million book deal should cover the trip's costs.
