Human rights groups have called for investigation after a shocking video emerged in which a maid falls seven stories from an apartment complex in Kuwait, as her employer films the entire incident.

In the video, the unnamed Ethiopian woman dangles by one hand from a balcony on the seventh floor of the building, screaming "hold me, hold me!"

The Kuwaiti employer filmed the maid's horrific struggle but did not intervene, leading to the woman's fall onto a metal awning.

She then posted footage to social media, saying "Oh, crazy, come back."

According to the al-Seyassah newspaper, the woman walked away from the ordeal with a broken arm and bleeding from her ears and nose.

Her employer, who told police she filmed her fall so as not to be accused of her maid's seemingly looming death, has since reportedly been detained by local authorities.

The maid says she got on the balcony ledge to escape from the woman who "tried to kill" her, Independent reports.

"The lady put me in the bathroom and was about to kill me in the bathroom without anybody finding out, she would have thrown my body out like rubbish, so instead of staying there, I went to save myself and then I fell," the maid said.

The Kuwaiti Society for Human Rights called authorities to investigate the case Friday, arguing the deemed lack of "care for her life."
