Twitter explodes over Trump's response to question on the Congressional Black Caucus

President Donald Trump held a news conference on Thursday to reveal his new nominee to lead the Department of Labor, Alexander Acosta, following the withdrawal of his original pick, Andrew Puzder.

During the Q&A session of the address, which was Trump's first solo press conference since taking office, April Ryan, the White House correspondent for American Urban Radio Networks, asked the president if he planned to include the Congressional Black Caucus in discussions about his inner-city agenda.

"I would," he responded. "I'll tell you what, do you want to set up the meeting? Are they friends of yours?"

"No no no no, I'm just a reporter," replied a taken-a-back Ryan.

Many people have taken to social media to express their anger over Trump's response to Ryan, saying that he treated her like a "secretary" and claiming he acted as if "all black people know each other."

The CBC issued a response to Trump on Twitter following the conference, saying that they had, in fact, tried to set up a meeting with the president -- an invitation to which they claim they received no response.
