Pizza is a food with arguably the most devoted following. People not only gorge on delicious, cheesy pies, but also wear pizza clothes, don pizza-themed cases on their phones, and share photos of the food on social media.

According to a Gallup poll, Americans buy three billion pizzas each year!

It's safe to say, people would do a lot to get their hands on a slice. One man, however, took it a bit too far.

A Chicago man admitted to police he loved pizza so much, he had to break into cars to feed his addiction. He wanted to sample an array of pies, but couldn't afford to do that on his own dough.

The Riverside police chief called the case, "one of the most unusual and bizarre burglary patterns [he had] ever come across in [his] 31 years in law enforcement."

The man, 21-year-old Dany Ortiz, has been arrested and charged with felony burglary. This charge could come with jail time, where pizza likely won't be served.

Then again, it is possible he will have a jury of fellow pizza-lovers who find his strong love a mitigating factor to his crimes. Who knows?
