Hayden Panettiere sends Twitter into a frenzy with radical new look: 'I’m in love all over again'

After a ten-month hiatus, Hayden Panettiere returned to Twitter this week to debut a very dramatic new haircut.

Posting to the social media site for the first time in almost a year, the actress shared a selfie showing off her new buzzed pixie cut and silver hair. "Channeling my inner #Kirby," she captioned the photo, referencing her character in the 2011 slasher film "Scream 4."

Of course, the new 'do quickly sent Panettiere's fans into a frenzy, with many applauding her for the bold change. "I am loving this new style most of all!!!" wrote one fan. "Bad***!" said another.

Supporters of the "Scream" star, however, interpreted the 30-year-old's post as touting Kirby's possible return in the fifth film of the franchise, which is currently in early development.

Panettiere worked with hairstylist Leonard Zagami for the transformation after revealing she was looking for a "radical change."

"So last night, we just went for it! It's a modern version of a classic pixie style with a little more of an edge. The color is silver, but not grey. She had previously been going with a super sexy blonde," Zagami told E! News.

He continued, "The cut was a collaborative idea. She has wanted to go short for a while but she has always had a commitment with her work and wasn't able to. Right now, she is free and said, let's do it!"

The actress has had quite a rocky year: Her boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, was arrested in May after a "violent confrontation" with the actress, who was given a protective order from Hickerson. However, the case was dismissed in September and the couple has since reconciled.

Panettiere split from her husband Wladimir Klitschko in August 2018 after nine years together, and the couple's 5-year-old daughter reportedly lives with Klitschko in Ukraine.
