This was Anna Wintour's reaction to Lady Gaga at the 2019 Met Gala

Updated

The world's jaw dropped when Lady Gaga arrived at the 2019 Met Gala in New York City on May 6th. She made her way to the red (well, actually pink) carpet wearing a hot pink parachute dress with a reported 25-foot long train made by fashion designer and long-time friend Brandon Maxwell (who also accompanied her on the carpet). Lady Gaga posed for the cameras and then changed into three new ridiculously campy outfits, accessories included.

To put it swiftly, everyone lost their minds.

But how did Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue and co-chair of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala react to Gaga's entrance? She was overjoyed—hands clasped, mouth open smiling, eyes presumably lit up, ecstatic.

The usually stoic Wintour watched in amazement from the top of the stairs wearing a sparkly gown and feathered cape by Chanel, paired with her signature bob and sunglasses. Next to her stood the equally impressed Lisa Love, West Coast director of Vogue and Bee Carrozzini, her daughter, who turned her phone to show someone over FaceTime what was happening.

According to a tweet by Ramin Setoodeh, the NY bureau cheif at Variety, Wintour was asked how anyone could possibly compete with Lady Gaga. Wintour simply replied, "They can't!"

So then, everyone else just went home. Just kidding, there were tons of other amazing looks at the Met Gala and you can see them in the slideshow below!
