If the royal baby is a girl, Meghan Markle will give her this special gift

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have had a whirlwind spring so far -- and it's only just begun.

Following weeks of royal engagements, including a party for Prince Charles and a royal family outing in honor of Commonwealth Day, Harry and Meghan are now counting down the day until Baby Sussex arrives. While no official due date has been released, it is assumed that Meghan is due sometime in April.

Royal fans are also eager to find out the gender of the royal baby, which will presumably be shared publicly when Kensington Palace announces the birth of the newest royal. However, if the baby is a girl, she can expect to receive a very special present from Duchess Meghan.

In an interview with Hello! from 2015, a year before the couple met, Meghan shared which piece of jewelry she would be passing down to her daughter one day when asked if she had any meaningful pieces in her jewelry collection.

"I’ve always coveted the Cartier French Tank watch. When I found out 'Suits' had been picked up for our third season – which, at the time, felt like such a milestone – I totally splurged and bought the two-tone version. I had it engraved on the back, 'To M.M. From M.M.' and I plan to give it to my daughter one day. That’s what makes pieces special, the connection you have to them."

A two-tone Cartier French Tank watch, made of stainless steel and 18k yellow gold, retails for $5,500 and is without a doubt a classic timepiece that would make for a precious family heirloom. You can buy your own right now at Saks, but if a Cartier style is a bit steep for you, you can find a few of our favorite, more affordable watches below.
