Met Gala throwback: 1999

The 2019 Met Gala is now just one week away!

All of our favorite celebrities and fashion icons will take to the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on May 6th for one of the most extravagant nights of the year. This year's theme is "Camp: Notes on Fashion," so we are already preparing ourselves for a very unique evening.

While we wait in anticipation for the first Monday in May's festivities, we're looking back on the what the Met Gala looked like ten years.

The ball's theme in 1999 was "Rock Style" and the event was as packed as ever with our favorite household names. Elizabeth Hurley showed up in a leggy black gown with a red statement embellishment, while Charlize Theron wore a pale shimmery dress and purple shawl.

The late Whitney Houston attended the event alongside Bobby Brown, while Liam Neeson escorted his late wife Natasha Richardson. Minnie Driver and Gwyneth Paltrow were also in attendance as were a very youthful Liv Tyler and Stella McCartney.
