Anna Wintour weighs in on Duchess Meghan's style choices: 'She’s bringing modernity to the royal family '

The reigning queen of fashion has nothing but positive feedback for the Duchess of Sussex.

Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour weighed in on Duchess Meghan's style choices on Friday at the 10th annual Women in the World Summit in New York City, complimenting the royal on bringing her own personal taste to the palace.

"She obviously has her own style and has looked fantastic," Wintour said. "She's bringing modernity to the royal family in a way that is inspiring."

It's not just Markle's sheaths and shoes that have caught Wintour's attention: "The image that I have in my mind, that I think so many all over the world have in the mind of Duchess of Sussex, is walking down the aisle herself and looking at her extraordinarily beautiful and proud mother," Wintour said. "It symbolized that this going to be a different day for the royal family."

Wintour was referring to the Duchess' mom, Doria Ragland, who was by her daughter's side when she wed Prince Harry last spring.

Although it's not out of the question that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would ever attend Wintour's annual Met Gala, they certainly won't be in attendance this year: The May date will come not long after Markle is expected to give birth to her first child.

We also know at least one other person will be absent: Wintour said that President Trump, who's previously attended the ball multiple times, could do "absolutely nothing" to land himself back on the guest list.
