Why Melania Trump will likely never be on the cover of Vogue again

Anna Wintour has suggested that Melania Trump will likely never be on the cover of Vogue in the future.

Wintour, the longtime editor-in-chief of the magazine, explained her reasoning in an interview with CNN.

"You have to stand up for what you believe in, you have to take a point of view,” she told chief international anchor Christiane Amanpour. “I don't think you can try to please everyone all the time.”

The interview is sparking outrage among conservatives, who point to various Democrats with covers and profiles in the magazine.

Michelle Obama had three Vogue covers, while Hillary Clinton landed one. Just recently, Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris was profiled.

But Republicans have been included in the magazine as well. Though they weren't on the cover, Barbara Bush and Laura Bush have both been profiled in the magazine.

Even Stormy Daniels got the Vogue treatment, which makes Trump’s third wife's omission all the more glaring.

"We profile women in the magazine that we believe in the stand that they are taking on issue," Wintour said. "We support these leaders."

Melania has been on Vogue cover before in February 2005 when she married now-President Trump. At that time, the couple was in the good graces of Wintour and even appeared at the Met Ball, for which she hand-picks the guests.
