Kate Middleton is chic in combat boots and $50 J. Crew sweater for park visit

The Duchess of Cambridge ditched her heels and chic coat dresses to mark the 100th anniversary of Scouts at London's Gilwell Park on Thursday morning.

The 37-year-old royal joined young Scouts for a day of fort building and rocket testing, as well as various team building exercises. The organization's pilot initiative seeks to provide four and five-year-olds with life skills through teamwork and leadership programs and in turn "narrow opportunity gaps between disadvantaged young people and their peers, and aid their onwards progress into the wider world."

For the occasion, the mom-of-three opted for a mahogany J.Crew Mockneck Sweater, black skinny jeans and a forest green cargo jacket, believed to be designed by Barbour. Kate accessorized the look with her See by Chloe combat boots, a Scouts scarf and her trusty blowout.

The duchess has regularly expressed her love of the outdoors and has been vocal about nature's importance for the development of young children. During a visit to the Sayers Croft Forest School and Wildlife Garden last fall, the royal revealed how much she loves to play outside with her three children, and occasionally join them in bug hunting.
