Pantone reveals 2019 Color of the Year: Living Coral

Updated

Pantone's 2019 Color of the Year has finally been revealed!

The company made the announcement on Wednesday night that "Living Coral" will be color to look out for for the upcoming season. Pantone has predicted that 2019 will be the year of "inclusion."

The company said:

"Just as coral reefs are a source of sustenance and shelter to sea life, vibrant yet mellow, Pantone 16-1546, Living Coral embraces us with warmth and nourishment to provide comfort and buoyancy in our continually shifting environment."

Behr color expert Erika Woelfel echoed the company's statement. "Gone are the days of bright hues only appealing to young people, or pinks belonging exclusively to women," explained Woelfel. "Coral is an excellent step in this direction."

Continued Woelfel:

“A vivacious coral can infuse new energy into your home—whether you coat an entire room in Watermelon Slice to facilitate inspired conversation and excitement, or use Salmon Coral in a smaller dose on a piece of furniture to liven up an otherwise neutral space."

Past Pantone Colors of the Year have included "Ultra Violet" (2018) and Greenery (2017).
