Duchess Kate is festive in red Emilia Wickstead to bring holiday cheer to military families

The Cambridges are getting in on the holiday spirit!

On Tuesday, Duchess Kate and Prince William hosted a Christmas party for military families serving in Cyprus at Kensington Palace. For the occasion, the mother-of-three donned a festive Emilia Wickstead tartan pleated skirt, Brora cashmere cardigan and Mappin and Webb earrings.

Acknowledging how difficult the season must be for these families, the couple sought to bring some holiday cheer to the families and children of those deployed.

"As someone whose husband has served, I know how hard it feels when someone leaves home for the job they have trained for," the duchess reportedly said in a speech at the event. "The absence of people we love must be especially hard at this time of year."

At Tuesday's party, the royal couple engaged with the wives and husbands of those deployed, later joining their children at the snow globe and stocking-making stations. Prince William also spent time making truffles and Christmas cookies with some of the children.

The families also had the opportunity to send videos and photos to their loved ones through the event's many photobooths.

Tomorrow, the couple will travel to RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus to meet with the RAF military personnel there, before spending the holidays with Carole and Michael Middleton and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
