The 10 prettiest dresses from the 2018 Emmy Awards

Monday night's Emmy Awards gave us all the feels.

From a surprise proposal during the live broadcast to a touching speech from icon Betty White to all of our favorite couples looking oh-so-in-love on the gold carpet, we were happily overwhelmed by everything that the 70th annual awards show had to offer.

We also were given some major fashion inspiration at the beginning of the night as our favorite members of Hollywood hit the carpet in their finery.

While some looks were definitely hits (and others were clearly misses), there was no shortage of gorgeous gowns to see.

Red carpet regular Jessica Biel looked stunning in a cream scalloped dress by Ralph & Russo, while Scarlett Johansson looked white hot in a sexy Balmain number, complete with a thigh-high slit. Michelle Dockery was also hard to miss in her beautiful blue tulle Carolina Herrera gown.

Younger celebrities also broke out their best dresses for the occasion. 'Black Panther' star Letitia Wright wore a glittering, tiered Pamella Roland dress, and Yara Shahidi looked positively radiant in a playful pink dress from Gucci. A wrap dress is always flattering, and we love Samantha Bee! But a color this regal deserves serious drama, and the look top-to-bottom just didn't quite add up.
He took home one of the biggest awards of the night, but Darren Criss wasn't winning any style points in this patterned black-on-black look.
Allison Janney looks amazing as a blonde -- and her figure, whew! -- but the allover purple sequins felt a bit Vegas for the Emmys.

Maya Rudolph is never one to shy away from an unexpected silhouette, so we know this was a very intentional choice -- but just can't get on board with the '80s puff sleeves.

Rhea Seehorn's gown was perfectly fine, but the half-done hairstyle just left us confused.
Her figure is incredible, but Madeline Brewer's long-sleeved black gown felt heavy for mid-September. Summer's not quite over!
Claire Foy won big, taking home the coveted statue for Outstanding Actress - Drama, but there was nothing particularly dramatic about her ivory ankle-length sheath.
We love the shape of Emilia Clarke's multi-textured gown, but the combination of sheer and florals left us feeling a little dizzy.
We adore Yara Shahidi -- who doesn't?! We just have such high fashion expectations for her, and this gathered pink number wasn't one of her better choices.
