NYFW: Alice + Olivia Spring 2019 is all about 'connectivity'

Updated

For Alice + Olivia's Stacey Bendet, fashion is about so much more than just the clothes: it's about "connectivity."

That's the message the renowned designer hopes to send with her Spring 2019 ready-to-wear-line. "Fashion connects women all over the world and from all different parts of life," Bendet explained to AOL Lifestyle. Her collection emulated this global message through the actual models casted to debut the upcoming season.

"One of the things we're doing this season is we're casting models from literally all over the world," she said. "We're going to feature them on our social media throughout the season to explain who they are, where they're from."

From Ecuador to Ethiopia to Korea to the United States, models from all different backgrounds and ethnicities were included in Tuesday's presentation.

Bendet stayed true to her Alice + Olivia roots by incorporating eccentric colors and prints into her designs. The presentation, which the powerhouse deems much more creative than the "dated" runway shows, was laid out beautifully. Walking through cosmopolitan cities like Paris, Greece and Morocco, guests were treated to a physical experience as much as a visual one. Patterns matched the furniture and the wallpaper, where 3D installations stood.

It was truly a beautiful sight.

In true Bendet fashion, the experience -- its vibrating music, loads of celebrity sightings and inspiring designs -- paralleled the ideal A+O girl beautifully. "She's fun, she's colorful and she's adventurous."
