NYFW: Prabal Gurung floods his runway with nothing but color

Updated

Prabal Gurung debuted his Spring 2019 collection on Sunday night at New York Fashion Week in spectacular technicolor fashion.

Taking place at Spring Studios, colorful prayer flags hung above the runway, harkening back to Gurung's native country of Nepal, as models walked down the catwalk in nearly every color of the rainbow. Brilliant shades of yellow, green, blue, purple and red all found their way into the designer's latest offering.

From color-blocked skirts and an ombre fringe dress for women to plaid jackets and patterned wind-breakers for men, Gurung managed to use brights colors alongside minimal patterns to deliver a high-impact performance that didn't feel overcomplicated.

Standout pieces included a purple, pink and red wrap skirt with black detailing and a violet-colored maxi dress hemmed with red stripes.

All three of the Hadid siblings, Gigi, Bella and Anwar, walked in the show, alongside other fashion mainstays such as Joan Smalls, Winnie Harlow and Grace Elizabeth. Front row guests included Awkwafina, Gemma Chan, Camilla Mendes, Kelly Rowland and Tiffany Haddish.
