The Massage Envy Player Performance Center may have been one of the keys to Tiger Woods' epic performance at the 2018 PLAYERS Championship

Updated

Obviously, it takes a little more than just skill to make it as a professional golfer. It takes tenacity, power business moves and whole lot of patience. You've got to be willing to sweat, spend whole days in the grueling sun, and maintain your focus when crowds and international media attention swarm around you.

And for better performance for top players like Tiger Woods, it might also take a few trips to a Massage Envy trailer outback for a little bit of TLC and a big stretch --as we learned while attending this year's PLAYERS Championship.

But we're not just talking about a simple massage here. Notable golfers such as Jamie Lovemark, Smylie Kaufman and Tony Finau, all rely on the franchise's Total Body Stretch to help get their blood flowing and assist with total body rehabilitation before and after they tee off.

At this year's Arnold Palmer Invitational in March, Tiger revealed that stretching is much more integral to his performance now than it was earlier in his career. "I've been using the van, the guys working on me a little bit to keep me loose and mobile," the 42-year-old athlete explained. "Keep me warm because the car ride over here, [I] get a little tight, I need to get warm, keep warm, keep moving and be ready to be explosive. So that's where the guys in the trailer are fantastic."

Echoed player Justin Thomas, "It's impossible to compete at this level if you aren't taking care of your body, and assisted stretching is a big part of my training."

The addition of The Total Body Stretch to the franchise coincides with the first time Massage Envy has ventured out on a sports sponsorship, becoming an official sponsor of the PGA TOUR and Official Total Body Care Sponsor of THE PLAYER Performance Center, according to an interview with the senior vice president of marketing Derek Detenber.

At this past weekend's tournament -- and at every week of the PGA TOUR -- care for the players has included an air-conditioned wellness trailer filled with personal trainers, chiropractors and physical therapists ready to assist the competitors in stretching out their bodies. But luckily for us, the Total Body Stretch isn't solely reserved for professional athletes, but is instead offered at Massage Envys around the nation by professionals trained in The Streto Method.

And trust us, you don't even need to be an athlete to reap the benefits of a stretch.
