See THE PLAYERS Championship through the eyes of a VIP

Updated

A weekend away in sunny and beachy Ponte Vedra sounds good enough to us.

But if you want to mix that in with a fruity and refreshing handmade Grey Goose cocktail, more than a few casual run-ins with Jordan Spieth and Webb Simpson and a clubhouse menu that impresses even the most daring of your foodie friends, then you've got yourself one heck of the weekend.

For the last 36 years, THE PLAYERS Championship has been held at TPC Sawgrass' iconic course, which is also home to the PGA TOUR headquarters itself. And with complimentary tickets for veterans, family-friendly opportunities (plus free admission for kids under 18), dishes and drinks that cater to every kind of palate and exclusive opportunities for the ultimate sports fan, the championship is, quite literally, for everyone.

The stadium-like course has a capacity of over 36,000 viewers -- through its sprawling greens, vast hills and expansive-raised seating, the tournament's spectator views are incomparable to anything of its kind. It was designed with the golf player and golf spectator in-mind, no doubt solidifying its rank as one of the most celebrated courses in the world.

It's a uniqueness that's hard not to notice once you step onto the course, regardless of whether or not you're an avid golf fan yourself. Now, believe us when we say that though our golf knowledge is (very, very) limited, being surrounded by the biggest golf fans in the world -- and watching the world's most renowned players take on the course's signature 17th hole, the Island Green -- the excitement rubs off on us. Our golf clap is suddenly as loud as everyone else's.

So, if you're looking to take on THE PLAYERS Championship like a true champ, there are a few spots you'll want hit during the tournament's four-day duration.

  • The Benefactor Club overlooks the iconic Island Green at hole 17, where masses of crowds sprawl out with fans, drinks and camping chairs to watch the players compete from one side of the lake to the other. The huge, air-conditioned tent gives ticket holders a nice break from the North Florida humidity, along with access upscale food and drinks. Don't miss out on the juicy Bubba Burger and the Sawgrass Splash, the signature cocktail of the championship. Tickets also provide access to The Turn on 18 fairway.

  • The Turn offers world-class exclusive views of both the 9th and 18th fairway (for golf rookies, that's the final stretch) of the course, alongside a premium bar and, yes, even more food.

  • Dye's Pavilion may show off some of the most "dramatic" finishing holes in golf history with its views of both the 17th and 18th green.

  • Local food trucks, fresh-squeezed lemonade, full bars and other meals are always around the corner as you make your way from hole-to-hole.

However, the most impressive opportunity offered by THE PLAYERS Championship is the VIP-only, ever-luxurious PLAYERS Club. The Club only invites 500 guests to take part in the extravagant experience, which includes access to TPC's clubhouse.

The mammoth 77,000 square foot Mediterranean masterpiece offers views from the 17th tee and 18 green and boasts the most intricate of gourmet dishes -- from local seafood to delicate wines -- under the taste buds of world-class chef Azhar Mohammed. Tickets to THE PLAYERS Club also include a $500 shopping experience to the Pro Shop, valet and other exclusive experiences. It might not come cheap (at a hefty $6K), but it's a nonpareil experience you'll likely never, ever forget.

For the 2019 season, THE PLAYERS Championship will be moved from May to March. While the tournament only ended this Sunday, tickets are already available for next year's tournament. And this coming year, we're going to do TPC the VIP way.
