Joanna Gaines releases new cookbook 'Magnolia Table' -- and it's everything we've ever dreamed of

Updated

They just wrapped up five seasons of a hit HGTV show, run a successful home decor line and business flipping houses, recently opened up a new restaurant and are expecting baby number five in just a few months. Seriously, is there anything the Gaines family can't do?

Let's add writing a cookbook to that mix.

On Tuesday, Joanna released her first book of recipes, called Magnolia Table, to HGTV fanatics -- it seemed like a natural fit for the Waco, Texas mom given her previous ventures. "I've just become so passionate about being in the kitchen," Joanna explained to AOL Lifestyle. "I love cooking, so we just felt like it was the perfect timing."

Though Joanna wasn't always the biggest cook, as her family grew, she realized that it was much easier to eat at home than it was to eat out. "As my kids got older, and I had four of them, it was just easier to cook at home," she maintained. "I think that's when I started to develop a love for cooking."

The older her children-- Emmy, Ella, Drake and Duke -- got, the more they came to "appreciate" a homecooked meal, so Chip and Joanna had to learn the best ways to cook for a family of six (soon to be seven!), while streamlining busy weeknight meals and school lunches.

"For me, the key is planning ahead. I used to wing it!" she explained. "I take Sunday nights, whether it be just 20 to 30 minutes, to meal plan for dinners and then have these things for lunches. Food and cooking can be stressful, so to alleviate that, so the biggest things are planning ahead and having your lists."

One dish that's guaranteed to make it on the Gaines dinner table? Chicken and dumplings, a family favorite that Joanna includes in her cookbook.

Plus, Joanna makes sure to end those dinners on a sweet note. "I always have to end my meal with at least a bite of chocolate cake," she said of her sweet tooth. As for unusual pregnancy cravings, you might find a few boxes of sugary "kid's cereal" in Jo's pantry!
