The name 'Barack' is making a comeback

President Obama loves babies, and babies love him right back -- so it's fitting that some moms would want to spread the Obama joy.

The Huffington Post reports that the name Barack wasn't exactly popping out on baby name lists before he became the first black president.

The Social Security Administration only carries baby name records for names given to 5 or more babies born each year -- and Barack wasn't on it.

However, soon after 2008, things changed.

That year, 52 newborns were named Barack and that number went to 69 in 2009. With that said, the trend slowed down during his presidency. The number went from 28 in 2010 to 15 in 2011 and 8 in 2015.

Now, it looks like the name is making a comeback. According to the SSA, 19 babies were named Barack in 2016, which you could likely chalk up to good ol' nostalgia.
