Best Bites: Caramelized onion bacon dip

This may be our favorite party dish of all time. Rich Gruyere cheese is mixed with sweet caramelized onions and crispy bacon for a spectacular appetizer. Whether you use it to impress your guests or indulge in a few bites alone, this dip is sure to be a hit. Serve with chips or crudites and enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 4 bacon strips, sliced

  • 2 sweet onions, sliced

  • 1/4 tsp granulated sugar

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1 tbsp dry Sherry

  • 1/4 tsp tabasco

  • 1/4 tsp thyme

  • 1/2 cup mayo

  • 1/2 cup sour cream

  • 1/2 cup Gruyere cheese

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Directions

  1. In pan, brown bacon.

  2. Drain.

  3. In pan, add onions.

  4. Add dash of sugar and salt.

  5. Sautè for 20 min.

  6. Add Sherry, tabasco and thyme.

  7. Cook 1 minute.

  8. In bowl mix mayo, sour cream and Gruyere cheese.

  9. Add onion and bacon.

  10. Sprinkle pepper.

  11. Mix, mix, mix.

  12. Add to baking dish.

  13. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.

  14. Let cool.

  15. Get dipping.
